Good Morning/Mourning America

Multi-Media Exhibition at Gallery 440 (440 S. Main St., Fort Worth, TX 76104) with Closing Reception at The Modern (auditorium) on August 28, 2025.

A six-day, juried, multi-media exhibition entitled Good Morning/Mourning America will open August 22, 2025, at Gallery 440 at 440 S. Main St. in Fort Worth and conclude August 28, 2025. Good Morning/Mourning Americais a multi-media, juried exhibition of art, music and word that brings to light the many creative and varied perspectives concerning the nation’s current political and cultural climate. A gallery talk and digital catalog of all selected submissions will accompany the exhibition. Additionally, a closing reception for the exhibition will be hosted at The Modern at 3200 Darnell Street on August 28, 2025. This reception will showcase the exhibition’s most memorable and impactful images and musical or spoken word performances, along with a moderated panel discussion and question-and-answer period. Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will be served.

General Description of the Exhibition:
The Good Morning/Mourning America multi-media exhibition offers a basis to explore in depth the emotion and creativity sparked by today’s current political and cultural climate. Whether perspectives of division, abrasion or balm, art and its imagery have a way of evoking and perhaps bridging discord in ways that words cannot. With the title of the exhibition — Good Morning/Mourning America — acting as the sole prompt, works of art, music and written word (poetry, essays) will be solicited by those residing in Texas and curated for both balance and representative and unique perspectives. This exhibition, supplemented by a guided panel discussion and digital catalog, seeks to bring members of the surrounding community together to facilitate individual and collective reflection, spark curiosity, and perhaps bridge to a reality that we may have more in common than not. As Katherine Porter wrote:
